Spain's Foreign Ministry Sends Protest Note to Turkey
The Spanish Foreign Ministry has sent a protest note to Ankara regarding the detention and expulsion of 10 Spaniards who traveled to Turkey to observe the presidential elections. This information was reported by РИА Новости.
The Spanish government has expressed its dissatisfaction to the Turkish authorities over the fact that the observers were detained "without justification and explanation." According to the agency, among those arrested and expelled were also 3 parliamentarians.
It is also noted that since the announcement of the arrests, the Spanish embassy in Turkey has been in constant contact with the affected individuals and the Turkish authorities.
