EU Delegation Clarification on Andrea Wiktorin's Statement
The EU Delegation in Armenia has issued a clarification regarding the statement made by EU Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin about EU observers.
In the clarification, it is specifically stated: "Reports are not provided to Armenia and Azerbaijan. However, since the mission is guided by officers from the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, the Armenian side is well aware of what they (the observers) are witnessing. Naturally, they cannot be everywhere. Therefore, they can only conduct observation and then report back to Brussels. However, they cannot report on what they have not seen, which is quite a logical factor. They were not present 'on the ground' during the recent incursions and clashes. The border is quite long, and there is a patrol schedule. At the same time, the goal is not for them to be present when incidents occur. They conduct observation along the border and see what is happening around the border, but that does not mean they are precisely in the location where something is occurring at that moment."
It is worth reminding that today EU Delegation head, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, speaking about the recent events in Sotk, stated that the observers were not there.
