Both sides must withdraw their troops from each other's territories, EU ambassador

I would like to emphasize that this is ongoing work that ensures progress. This was stated today by the head of the EU delegation, Ambassador Andrea Victorin, during a press conference dedicated to Europe Day and the relations between the European Union and Armenia, while referring to the recent meeting between Pashinyan, Aliyev, and Michel.

“All issues must be clearly discussed at the negotiation table, and if you carefully read the statement, you will see that the main message is precisely that. Of course, we have been working on the return of prisoners for quite some time. There is a formulation, I quote: ‘These individuals will be released in the coming weeks,’” said Andrea Victorin.

Victorin also made a notable statement, saying that both sides must withdraw their troops from each other's territories. “We understand that it is extremely important to reach an agreement, and we hope that both sides will withdraw their troops, and everyone will proceed to border delimitation and demarcation work, which is extremely important. This is work that expects progress, and we are moving forward step by step. A bigger meeting will be held in Chisinau in June,” she said.

According to her, it was noted in Brussels that there are two points where Armenian troops are present in the border area, and they must be withdrawn, and there must be very clear delimitation. “As for the timeline, all of this depends on negotiations. I hope that yesterday's meeting has given a fresh character to all the discussed issues, and I hope that we will soon reach a conclusion, which will also lead to respect for territorial integrity, implying the withdrawal of troops,” the diplomat noted.
