Serbia's President to Resign in Coming Days
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has announced that he will step down as the leader of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party in the coming days. He is expected to officially announce his resignation and other personnel decisions during an extraordinary party meeting on May 27.
“In a few days, I will no longer be the head of the political party,” he said at a press conference.
In November 2022, Aleksandar Vučić stated that he planned to leave the party leadership in favor of a younger candidate. He has been at the helm of the Serbian Progressive Party since 2012 and has served as president since 2017. From 2014 to 2017, he held the position of Prime Minister of Serbia.
