President of Artsakh is Aware of Certain Negotiation Details: Spokesperson for Araik Harutyunyan
The spokesperson for the President of the Artsakh Republic, Lusine Avanesyan, responded to 168.am's questions regarding the ongoing negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
– Ms. Avanesyan, what expectations does Artsakh have for the meeting with the President of the European Council Charles Michel, and the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev, in Brussels? Is the term "the rights and security of the Armenian population residing in Artsakh" acceptable for Artsakh?
– The authorities of the Artsakh Republic are monitoring the ongoing processes between Armenia and Azerbaijan. I believe that resolving issues through negotiations, while excluding the use of force and threats of force, is always preferable.
– The ruling elite of Armenia, led by Nikol Pashinyan, has repeatedly stated that the leadership of Artsakh, in particular President Araik Harutyunyan, is aware of the details of the negotiations. Has the President of Artsakh informed Nikol Pashinyan that the term "the rights and security of the Armenian population residing in Artsakh" is unacceptable for the Armenian community, and that only the promotion of the right to self-determination is acceptable?
– The President of Artsakh is aware of certain negotiation details and has the opportunity to convey his and the people's concerns, as well as to express the viewpoint of the Artsakh Republic authorities, which centers on the realization of the right of the Artsakh people to self-determination and its international recognition, as well as the issue of the security of the Artsakh Republic.
– Do you have any information on whether negotiations are ongoing regarding the dismantling of the illegally established customs point by Azerbaijan? What results are there at this time, and is it only the Russian side negotiating with Azerbaijan?
– The illegal establishment of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan in the internationally recognized Lachin/Kashatagh corridor is unacceptable. The position of the Artsakh Republic is expressed in the statement of the Security Council of the Artsakh Republic. So far, negotiations held by Russian peacekeepers with the Azerbaijani side on this matter have not yielded results.
