Biden Under Pressure to Take Cognitive Test

More than 60 Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives are demanding that American leader Joe Biden take a cognitive test or withdraw from the presidential race. The letter from the lawmakers was released on Friday by Fox News.

The lawmakers expressed concern about Biden's current cognitive state and his ability to serve another term as president after he announced his decision to seek reelection.

"We believe that regardless of gender, age, or political party, all presidents should substantiate and demonstrate sound mental capability," the letter from the 61 Republicans states.

"Despite having undergone two physical exams during your presidency on November 19, 2021, and February 16, 2023, there is no indication that you have taken an intellectual test, and if you have, the results have been kept from the public," the lawmakers continued.

They argue that the absence of a mental competency check raises "concerns in American society." The Congress members reminded that since the beginning of Biden's presidency, they have sent him three letters urging him to take a cognitive test, but have not received a response from the leader.

"While you and your staff ignore these requests, the American public continues to doubt your mental and cognitive abilities and loses faith in your capacity to lead the country," the Republicans stated.

They cited Harvard University's survey results, which indicated that 57% of respondents do not consider Biden "mentally fit for the presidency or have doubts about his mental capabilities."
