New Details on Ongoing 'Adjustments' Near Teghe
The commission on delimitation and border security issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan has not participated in the ongoing 'adjustments' near the village of Teghe. This was stated by the office of the commission’s head, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, in response to a query from Sputnik Armenia.
The response indicates that the procedure for organizing and conducting meetings and joint working sessions between the commission on delimitation and border security issues of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the state commission for delimiting the state border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, is currently in the phase of mutual agreement.
“At this moment, there are no agreements regarding a meeting between the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan,” the office stated.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that a 5-kilometer section of the 12-kilometer line subject to adjustments in the area of the village had been deemed problematic. However, after successive adjustments, the area has been further reduced by 1.4 kilometers.
Prior to this, the RA National Security Service reported that representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan held a meeting in the Teghe-Kornidzor section to delineate the borders.
Thus, despite the formal existence of the delimitation commission, the 'adjustments' along the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line are being carried out by security forces.
It should be noted that in March, RA Minister of Justice and commission member Grigor Minasian announced that the activities of the Armenian commission on delimitation and demarcation had not reached a dead end, and discussions and internal work are ongoing.
