EU Observers Have Stated They Can Only Use Binoculars and Cannot Act, Says Anna Mkrtchyan
EU observers have said that if there are no attacks on Armenia during certain times of the year, it is their victory. Their presence was accompanied by an attack in the fall, escalation, and invasions of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia, and the same occurred in spring. This was stated by Anna Mkrtchyan, a member of the 'Honorary' faction of the National Assembly, to journalists before the court session regarding Serzh Sargsyan, while referring to today's Azerbaijani aggression in Sotek and the silence of EU observers.
"The observers themselves have said that they can only use binoculars and cannot act," said the parliament member.
She reminded that the same observers send the evidence and reports they collect entirely to Azerbaijan.
"Nikol Pashinyan knew very well that the EU observers were not sent here to document encroachments on the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, to compile reports, and as a result, to consider sanctions against our enemies. He knew very well that their presence here is to support the interests of the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem; this is why the situation has come to this," said Mkrtchyan.
She noted that it is not a problem for the head of the current government of Armenia that observations are being made from Armenian territory and passed on to the enemy.
It should be reminded that since 6:00 AM on May 11, the Azerbaijani armed forces have opened fire from artillery and mortar systems towards the Armenian positions located near Sotek. The Armenian side has four wounded soldiers, and their lives are not in danger. Azerbaijani armed forces also opened fire on the ambulance transporting the injured soldier. The Azerbaijani side reports one casualty.
It is noteworthy that since February 20, 2023, a European mission consisting of 100 members has been deployed in Armenia with a two-year mandate. Although the EU mission is considered civilian, 50 of them are gendarmes.
