Avinyan Demands 9 Million Dram Compensation and Apology from Journalist and 168.am

The Deputy Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, has demanded an apology from journalist David Sargsyan and the news outlet 168.am, as well as the retraction of information that he claims tarnishes his honor, dignity, and business reputation, along with a monetary compensation of 9 million drams.

The reason for this action is a video published on 168.am and the site’s YouTube channel titled "Tigran Avinyan – The Newly Discovered Millionaire," which has prompted Avinyan to take the matter to court.

On the request of Tigran Avinyan and his representative, the presiding judge Eduard Amalyan granted a motion to seize the journalist's funds and property in the amount of 9 million drams, as well as placing a similar seizure of 9 million drams on the website’s accounts.

168.am reported, “Tigran Avinyan and his representative, Harutyun Harutyunyan, did not file a request for retraction before going to court.” Additionally, it was noted that after the lawsuit was accepted, they did not receive any notification until it was recorded, and that notification did not come from the court but rather from the Enforcement Service.
