Armenia, Iran, and India Collaborate on Persian Gulf-Black Sea International Transport Corridor Project

Armenia, Iran, and India are working on the project of the "Persian Gulf-Black Sea" international transport corridor. The Indian side views Armenia as a bridge through which goods from India will be able to access the multi-million market of the EEU. This was stated in an interview with Sputnik Armenia by Asif Iqbal, President of the Indian Trade Organization.

According to him, the issue is being discussed at the leadership level of the three countries, but it is also planned to involve the private sector in the project.

"India is preparing to become an observer country in the EEU in 2024. This is another factor that will allow us to deepen cooperation with Armenia in all areas, including defense," Iqbal stated, adding that soon a defense attaché will be appointed to the Indian embassy in Armenia.

Regarding other areas of cooperation, several contracts have already been signed between agricultural companies of the two countries. Agricultural tourism is also set to develop. Additionally, two more agreements will be signed soon, allowing Indian companies to process household and organic waste in Armenia and produce natural gas.

Furthermore, work is also being done on the digitization of old film rolls in collaboration with "Hayfilm." Sepeh Ghazaryan, the head of the "Customised Industrial Supplies" enterprise, also noted in an interview with Sputnik Armenia that it is essential to actively engage the business sector for the implementation of trilateral projects. According to him, mutual visits and the signing of agreements are planned in the future, the results of which will be evident soon.

Ghazaryan emphasized that there is much that unites the Armenian and Indian peoples. In addition to friendly relations and a common viewpoint on various contentious issues, India views Armenia as a transit route to EU countries. This is also relevant in the opposite direction.

Among the key areas of cooperation, Ghazaryan noted tourism. He stated that the opening of direct air communication from India would lead to an influx of tourists, which, in turn, would bring investments.

"Real investments are expected from India in the next six months for the development of industry, construction, and trade. In the future, it is also planned that Armenian enterprises will participate in an exhibition in India with local products," Ghazaryan said.
