Transfer of Citizens from Artsakh to Armenia and Import of Goods Prohibited by Red Cross Mediation
According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd", as of April 28, the Azerbaijani side has prohibited the transfer of citizens in critical health condition from Artsakh to Armenia, even through the mediation of the Red Cross. Our sources indicate that any type of goods import into Artsakh has also been banned.
On this occasion, "Zhoghovurd" requested a comment from David Babayan, an advisor to the President of Artsakh. "I cannot say definitively; it is necessary to clarify with the relevant authorities, but it is obvious that the situation has complicated since the so-called checkpoint or detention point was established. The establishment of the checkpoint has created an entirely different situation; in fact, after that, Artsakh is under complete siege," Babayan stated in our conversation.
Artsakh opposition MP Metakse Hakobyan also confirmed our information: "The authorities, who do not inform us about anything, are more aware of this situation, but it is evident that since April 28, the Red Cross has not been carrying out its mission, patients are not being transferred from Artsakh to Armenia, and family reunifications are also not happening. It is more than clear that all functions of this kind have been halted. I do not have information on specific types of goods, but what is most important is that the transfer of individuals with health problems is not being implemented," she said.
