40 Parliamentary Members of PACE Urge Immediate Action to Protect the People of Artsakh
40 parliamentary members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have urged Azerbaijan to immediately comply with the binding interim measures of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and the decision of the International Court of Justice, which mandates Azerbaijan to ensure unhindered bilateral movement through the Lachin corridor.
The statement notes that by unilaterally closing the only road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia, the Lachin corridor, on April 23, 2023, Azerbaijan violated the trilateral agreement of November 9, 2020, creating humanitarian hardships for the 120,000 residents in the region.
The parliamentarians have called on Azerbaijan to cooperate sincerely with international organizations and to allow fact-finding visits to Nagorno-Karabakh. They urged the Council of Europe to take effective measures to protect the human rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
