The Issue of Armenian Villages Must Be Resolved During Demarcation, Toyvo Klaar
In the process of Armenian-Azerbaijani border demarcation, the issues concerning Armenian villages must inevitably be resolved. This was stated by Toyvo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, in an interview with Public Television.
In response to a question about Azerbaijan's demands for villages and an extraterritorial corridor from Armenia, Klaar did not clarify much. “First of all, I believe that regarding the specific villages you mentioned, there are also different perceptions in Armenia about their status. These issues must inevitably be resolved in the demarcation process,” he stated.
Regarding the transit routes, Klaar noted that if there is to be a route between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, or a similar route on Armenian territory, it must operate according to the laws and regulations of Armenia.
