Risk of Military Operations Increases as Agreement Signing is Delayed, Turkish Defense Minister
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has stated that a comprehensive resolution of relations between Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey would create new opportunities for the Caucasus region.
According to him, the elimination of historical hostilities would pave the way for lasting friendship and cooperation.
“However, we must consider the delicate situation. Although the conflict is currently frozen, the risk of military operations is increasing as the signing of the agreement is delayed,” he stated.
Akar pointed out that if countries within the region and beyond decide to invest in peace, the political and economic benefits would be substantial for the entire region. “Turkey would like third countries, including its Western allies, to either assist in this new understanding or at least be wary of politicizing the historical dispute and the prospects of continuing military operations,” emphasized the Turkish official.
