Mother See Responds to Azerbaijan's Demand for Armenian Clergy to Leave Dadivank
The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin has responded to the demand from Azerbaijani authorities for Armenian clergy to vacate Dadivank.
“Our clergy continue their spiritual service in Dadivank thanks to the commendable mission of the Russian peacekeepers, who ensure the monastery's security. Regarding the false claims that Dadivank is of Albanian origin, it is an undeniable historical fact that the monastery has always been Armenian and has no connection to the Albanian church, let alone the newly emerged Albanian-Judeo religious community,” the Information Department of the Mother See told Radar Armenia.
Earlier, it was reported that Azerbaijani authorities were demanding Armenian monks to leave Dadivank. This call was made by Mubariz Gurbanli, the chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations.
