Ministry of Health Responds to Mamijanyan's Claims on COVID-19 Deaths
The Ministry of Health officially states that the statistics on deaths related to COVID-19 reflect the real situation. It is noted that since the outbreak of the pandemic, data on deaths as well as all other indicators related to the disease have been published periodically based on the epidemiological situation.
Moreover, the Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, recently announced in the National Assembly that there have been approximately 8,700 deaths due to coronavirus in Armenia. When compared to the figures from neighboring countries, this number is significantly lower than that of some countries, considering that Armenia was facing not only the challenges of the pandemic but also a war.
It is important to note that during a briefing with journalists at the National Assembly today, the leader of the “Honorary” faction, Hayk Mamijanyan, stated that the number provided by the minister does not correspond to reality at all. He claimed, “We had poor management of the pandemic, which resulted in, if I'm not mistaken, 10,000 deaths. Anahit Avanesyan is deceiving when she presents the number of COVID-19 deaths from this podium.”
