"Azerbaijanis Requested to Address Stepanakert as 'Khankendi': Head of Mets Shen"
The medication has run out, and there are only two days' worth of food left in the village of Mets Shen, which is under blockade by the Azerbaijanis. This was stated by Samvel Sargsyan, the head of the Hin Shen community in the Shushi region, in an interview with 24News.
When asked if peacekeepers or the Red Cross had provided any assistance, he replied, "They come in and out, but that doesn't help us." Although there are currently no severe health issues in the community, Sargsyan expressed concern, saying that they have been without medication for two days, and problems will soon arise, complicating the situation.
The head of Mets Shen was among those who crossed the illegally installed Azerbaijani checkpoint two days ago, accompanied by another resident from the village. According to Sargsyan, the Azerbaijanis presented several demands on-site, one of which was to refer to Stepanakert as 'Khankendi,' but nobody has complied with this demand.
"They mainly checked passports and vehicle trunks," Sargsyan elaborated.
Regarding the attitude of the Azerbaijanis, the community leader stated that they did not exhibit aggressive behavior as such: "It is not convenient for them; they are trying to appear polite and civilized now, but we have known them for millennia, and they don't have that approach," pointed out the head of Mets Shen.
"The Azerbaijanis already consider themselves the absolute owners; we feel as if a guest comes into our home," Samvel Sargsyan concluded.
It is noteworthy that the Azerbaijanis blocked the Hakar bridge connecting Armenia to Artsakh on April 23, which is located in the area under the control of Russian peacekeepers, and subsequently set up a checkpoint, fully blockading the villages of Lisagor, Mets Shen, Yeghdzahogh, and Hin Shen in the Shushi region.
