We Want Stepanakert and Baku to Negotiate: Colonna
There is a desire for negotiations to begin between representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh and the Azerbaijani authorities with the support of the international community. This was stated by French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna in an interview with the Armenpress news agency during her official visit to Armenia.
She believes that the parties should discuss the content of the rights and guarantees of the population. “This implies that favorable conditions must be created for such negotiations, particularly regarding the restoration of free movement through the Lachin corridor,” she declared.
The French Foreign Minister added that her country would support any solution that ensures the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh can continue to live there safely while preserving its history, heritage, and culture. Regarding the closure of the Lachin corridor, she stated that it is unacceptable. “This situation is unacceptable, as it poses serious risks of economic and humanitarian crises for the population of Nagorno-Karabakh,” the French minister said.
