Fountain-Memorial Honoring Heroes of the Nemesis Operation Opens in Yerevan
In the heart of Yerevan, within the fourth section of the Circular Park, a fountain-memorial honoring the heroes of the Nemesis operation was inaugurated with grandeur, nearly a century after the Armenian Genocide. This was reported by the Yerevan Municipality.
“Solomon Tehlirian, Aram Yerkanyan, Armen Garo, Grigor Merjanov, Ara Sargsyan, Avetik Isahakyan, Hrach Papazyan, Shahan Natali, Hakob Melkumov, Yervand Fundukyan, Misak Torlakhyan, Arshavir Shirakyan, Arshak Yezdanyan, Stepan Tsaghikyan, Artashes Gevorgyan, Petros Ter Poghosyan - these are the names of the Armenian heroes who avenged the leaders of the Young Turks who orchestrated and executed the Armenian Genocide in 1915, as well as those who organized the massacre of Armenians in Baku in 1918. Future generations will also learn about their story through this monument, which symbolizes respect, unique humility, and a message of responsibility towards the homeland.
The fountain-memorial was established by the decision of the Yerevan City Council, and the author of the sculpture is architect Tigran Barseghyan. It should be noted that the initiative for the installation of the memorial was presented by the descendants of the avengers of the Armenian Genocide,” the statement adds.
