VIDEO. What security issues exist in Tegh village? The Human Rights Defender responds

In a conversation with journalists at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex, the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan addressed the installation of a checkpoint by Azerbaijan near the entrance of the new route of the Lachin corridor, stating that the Armenian community in Artsakh is faced with the danger of ethnic cleansing. This should be a concern not only for us but also for the international community.

“I am trying in every way to raise these issues in discussions with all possible stakeholders and within the framework of drafting all possible documents. In this matter, we all need to combine our efforts to reach an accurate and proper solution to the issue,” she said.

When asked about security issues she highlighted in Tegh village, Manasyan replied: “I have traveled to the Tegh community primarily with a mandate for the protection of human rights. I must be honest that I am simply impressed by the courage of the residents of Tegh, but at the same time, I cannot ignore the human rights protection issues that are currently present. In particular, there are serious issues regarding our citizens' right to life and security, property rights, the right to education, physical and mental integrity, and a number of other rights. In this regard, a very systematic and competent policy must be pursued.”
