Malhas Amoyan Crowned European Champion
In the finals of the 77 kg category at the European Wrestling Championship taking place in Zagreb, Amoyan faced Serbian representative Viktor Nemesh, securing a fantastic victory with a score of 6:4, earning the winning points in the final moments of the match.
Another Armenian representative, Hratchya Poghosyan in the 63 kg category, became a bronze medalist at the European Championship. Poghosyan faced Italy's Jacopo Sandroni in a decisive bout, finishing the match with a score of 1:1, which secured him third place.
Olympic gold medalist, five-time European champion, and four-time world champion Arthur Aleksanyan advanced to the finals earlier today. Aleksanyan, who returned to the European Championship after a three-year hiatus, began his journey in the Round of 16, where he won 3:1 against a Georgian wrestler. He then triumphed over his Hungarian opponent with a score of 7:4 in the quarterfinals and confidently defeated Czech competitor Artur Omraovi with a score of 9:0 in the semifinals.
Another Armenian representative, Gevorg Gharibyan in the 60 kg category, will compete for the bronze medal.
