Bronze medalist of the Tokyo Olympic Games, world champion, and double European champion Arthur Davtyan has won his third gold medal in the World Cup series.
In the final event of the last stage of the gymnastics World Cup series held in Cairo, Egypt, Davtyan proved unrivaled in the vault exercise. In the finals, Arthur Davtyan earned a brilliant score of 15.166 points, becoming the gold medalist. The world champion had qualified with a score of 15.120 points.
The silver medal went to Ukraine’s Nazar Chepurnyi (14.799), while the bronze medal was awarded to Czech Republic’s Andrey Kalny (14.333).
Arthur Davtyan had also won gold medals in vault at the first two legs of the World Cup series held in Cottbus and Doha.
The Armenian team, led by Hakob Serobyan, concluded the World Cup’s last stage in Egypt with medals. Gagik Khachikyan won the silver medal in pommel horse, while Harutyun Merdinyan (pommel horse) and Arthur Avetisyan (rings) earned bronze medals.
It is noteworthy that the Armenian team participated in two out of the past three stages. The third stage took place in Baku, which the Armenian team did not attend. In Cottbus, Gagik Khachikyan had won the silver medal (pommel horse), and Arthur Avetisyan secured the bronze medal (rings).
The World Cup series serves as a qualifier for the World Championship, which will be held in Belgium this autumn, where tickets to the Paris Olympic Games will be contested.
