Drugs are an evil in the virtual realm: Anna Vardapetyan

The law enforcement agencies need to change their methods and strategies in the fight against the illegal circulation of drugs. This was stated today by the Prosecutor General of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, during her presentation of the report on the activities of the Prosecutor's Office in 2022 to the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly.

“Recently, I sent a letter to my colleagues asking them to plan operational work against the illegal circulation of drugs through combined actions and in a new format within the framework of criminal proceedings. The circulation of drugs has been modified. The drugs now come in colored pills that look 'beautiful', and this is the most terrifying aspect. That is why we are facing serious challenges among minors in explaining that these 'beautiful' pills are destructive,” emphasized the Prosecutor General, pointing out that preventive work must be carried out in this direction.

“If previously, it was clear who was operating in which neighborhood and how they were distributing drugs, now it is an evil existing in the virtual realm, which requires entirely different knowledge to uncover. The illegal circulation of drugs is directly linked to money laundering, which is why conducting investigations within the framework of modern methodologies is among our priorities,” the Prosecutor General stressed.
