Transgender Individuals Banned from Competing in Women's School Sports in the U.S.
The U.S. House of Representatives, led by opposition Republicans, has passed a bill prohibiting transgender individuals who are biologically male from participating in women's or girls' school competitions.
This initiative, which President Joe Biden has already promised to veto, was approved with 219 votes in favor and 203 against.
The explanatory notes of the document state, "The bill prohibits individuals whose biological sex is male from participating in school sports programs designated for women or girls." The legislation aims to protect female athletes from competition with transgender individuals assigned male at birth. However, the bill has little chance of passing in the Senate, which is under Democratic control.
