VIDEO: Aliyev's Words Were Staged and Directed to Domestic Audience, Says Alen Simonyan

Alen Simonyan, the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, believes that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has once again showcased his approach as a negotiator and international partner with his recent statement. Simonyan made this remark during a press briefing with journalists in the National Assembly, addressing Aliyev’s statements from yesterday.

Yesterday, the Azerbaijani president stated that the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh must either accept Azerbaijani citizenship or leave their place of residence.

“Aliyev aggressively displayed hatred towards Armenians once again to the world. I think everything is staged—crafted, planned, and designed to be aired,” said Simonyan.

When asked about the timing of Aliyev's statement, which coincided almost simultaneously with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's speech in the National Assembly, Simonyan responded by stating that Aliyev's words should not be connected to the Prime Minister's remarks. According to the National Assembly President, these statements were primarily directed towards Azerbaijan's domestic audience and were an attempt to impose something on Armenia.
