Samboist Arsen Khanchyan Becomes European Champion

The European Sambo Championship, which kicked off in Haifa, Israel, saw Armenian sambo wrestlers start strong as they competed and secured their first medals. This was reported by the Armenian Sambo Federation.

In the sports sambo categories of 64 kg and 79 kg, bronze medals were awarded to Narek Dallakyan and Boris Shatveryan, respectively, while Mkhitar Mkhitaryan won bronze in the combat sambo category of 58 kg. Arsen Khanchyan, competing in the 98 kg weight category, delivered outstanding performances, according to the sports organization.

“Our athlete first defeated the Russian representative Chernoskulin, then the Azerbaijani Javadzade, and in the finals, he triumphed over Georgia's Davit Loriashvili to be crowned the European champion,” the statement noted.
