WSJ Correspondent to Remain in Detention in Russia

The Wall Street Journal's correspondent Evan Gershkovich will remain in detention. A Moscow court has rejected the journalist's motion to be released from custody before his trial, according to Russian media reports.

Gershkovich is accused by Russian authorities of espionage. He was arrested in late March in Yekaterinburg.

The Wall Street Journal has categorically denied the accusations against its correspondent and called for his release. Gershkovich will be held at the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center until May 29.

More than four dozen countries have co-signed a statement demanding the release of Evan Gershkovich.
