Nicolas Cage Calls for Eating Bugs for the Greater Good

American actor Nicolas Cage believes that an insect-based diet could solve the global hunger problem and has urged people to eat them for the greater good, as reported by Lenta.

Sharing his thoughts on eating bugs during a joint interview with Renfield star Nicholas Hoult for Yahoo Entertainment, Cage stated: “If you let go of your fears and phobias about insects, you can solve the problem of hunger worldwide. They’re high in protein, fat-free, and excellent nutrients. And the most important thing is, they’re everywhere.”

At the same time, he acknowledged that this would likely never happen.

The unusual topic arose during the discussion of the film Renfield, which had its world premiere in March 2023. According to the script, lead actor Nicholas Hoult was supposed to eat bugs, including crickets and Colorado potato beetles. This reminded Cage of a scene where he also consumed live maggots 35 years ago for a perfect shot in the film “Vampire's Kiss.”

“I would never do that again. I regret having done something like that at all,” Cage confessed.
