Azerbaijani Soldier Who Intruded Into Armenia Killed a Guard, Says Government MP
Yes, there is such information. Certain processes may be required for the Investigative Committee to confirm this. This was stated today by Narek Ghahramanyan, a member of the National Assembly of the ruling "Civil Contract" faction, while speaking to reporters about whether the arrested Azerbaijani soldier killed the guard of the "Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine." He insisted that he had very clear information.
When asked if charges would be brought if this version is confirmed, he responded, "What does it mean, will charges be brought? A civilian has been killed in Armenia; how can charges not be brought?" In response to the question of whether it would be possible to exchange Azerbaijanis who crossed into Armenia for our captives in Azerbaijan, he replied that he could not make any predictions, neither confirm nor deny.
"I am confident that a criminal case will be initiated, and he will be convicted. I confirm that he is the one who killed the citizen of Armenia. Certain investigative actions may need to be carried out, after which statements can be made," said Ghahramanyan.
It should be recalled that according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, on April 10, between 01:00 and 02:00, an Azerbaijani serviceman was detected and arrested on the territory of Armenia, who stated that he was not alone when crossing the border. Three days later, on April 13, a second Azerbaijani serviceman was found and arrested on the territory of Armenia, in the Syunik region, and was handed over to the National Security Service.
The mayor of Kapan, Manvel Paramazyan, reported that the arrested Azerbaijani serviceman was found in possession of the phone of a 56-year-old man from Kapan, who was killed at the guard post of the "Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine." Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Armenia announced that an investigation was underway by the Syunik Regional Investigative Department to clarify the circumstances surrounding the murder of the 56-year-old man found dead at the guard post, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
According to a statement from the Office of the Prosecutor General of Armenia, the request of the investigator conducting the proceedings was satisfied; two Azerbaijani citizens, Agshin Babirov and Huseyn Ahlimani Akhundov, have been charged and arrested.
