Musician Semyon Slepakov Recognized as Foreign Agent and Leaves Russia

The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has added musician Semyon Slepakov to the list of foreign agents. Russian media report that the foreign agents registry on the ministry's website was updated on Friday evening.

According to the agency, Slepakov has received support from foreign sources, has expressed opposition to the special military operation in Ukraine, has a negative view of military service and state service in general, and has spoken negatively about the citizens of the Russian Federation.

Slepakov has left the Russian Federation.

The Carnegie Foundation has also been added to the same registry. The announcement stated, “The Carnegie Foundation has disseminated false information about decisions made by state authorities and their policies aimed at countering the destructive ideological influence on the citizens of the Russian Federation. It discredits the activities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.”

Additionally, the Ministry of Justice has granted foreign agent status to cartoonist Pavel Muntian, journalists Pavel Kanigin and Igor Yakovenko, as well as the publication “Agency,” the online publication “Polygon,” and the organization “Rainbow Association.”
