Finland Begins Construction of Fence Along Border with Russia

Finland has commenced preparations for the construction of a 75-kilometer fence along its border with Russia. This was reported by Interfax, citing the country's border guard service.

Initially, trees will be cleared, and by the end of 2025, the fence and control systems will be constructed.

The spokesperson for the border guard service, Jari Tolppanen, stated that tests related to the wall have "demonstrated a realistic timeline for construction." He added that most of the border fence will be built in the southeastern part of the country, where there is a risk of "significant illegal immigration."
