Armenia Provides Azerbaijan with Maps of All Minefields, Says Simonyan

Armenia has provided Azerbaijan with maps of all minefields, stated the Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan during a plenary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as reported by the National Assembly website.

Simonyan, addressing Azerbaijani claims regarding Lachin, emphasized that Armenia is not transferring military cargo to Nagorno-Karabakh. Moreover, there are no Armenian soldiers in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Thanks to the presence of the Russian peacekeeping forces, whose mandate has yet to be signed by Azerbaijan, as well as the International Committee of the Red Cross, the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh has not yet turned into a humanitarian disaster. Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor has created real ecological problems under a false ecological guise, as disruptions to gas and electricity supplies have led to deforestation, which may result in environmental degradation,” said Simonyan.

The Speaker also noted that, in addition to all of this, peaceful residents conducting agricultural work are often subjected to shelling. Simonyan also touched upon the issue of Armenian prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan, as well as the preservation of Armenian cultural heritage in territories under Azerbaijan's control in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Simonyan called on the international community and partners to condemn Azerbaijan’s aggressive actions against the people of the Republic of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh through targeted statements and concrete actions, thus preventing further escalation of the situation, which could spread to other regions.
