Shame! Finally: Serzh Sargsyan on Pashinyan's Statement Regarding the Madrid Principles

Every time I think about the allegations made by the ruler of Armenia, I want to understand what specific issue this person has more: moral integrity, the ability to read and comprehend documents, or memory. This was stated today by the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, during a conversation with reporters, responding to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement the day before that Armenia recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan under the 'Madrid Principles'.

“When he wants, he loses his memory; when he wants, he violates all norms and does whatever he wants. When he wants, he considers war to be peace; when he wants, he considers defeat to be victory. What can I say about that?” Sargsyan stated.

According to him, everyone is aware that until 2018, all five negotiating parties—Armenia, Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation, the United States, and France—considered that the 'Madrid Principles' addressed the issue of the right to self-determination of Nagorno-Karabakh, whereas now only four parties think so.

“After 2018, four out of these five are declaring that the 'Madrid Principles' resolved the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh—the Azerbaijani side, the Russian Federation, France, and the United States. Only the ruler of Armenia says that this document is about handing over Nagorno-Karabakh. Shame! Finally. Let them go and ensure the security of our country, let them remember how much they have lost from the actual territory of Armenia after the devastating defeat. If they don’t remember, I will say now that it is 100 times more than what we lost in the April four-day war from the security zone. They have lost four times more, we have had casualties, than during the April four-day war. So is this how we are heading towards peace, is this peace?” he noted.

It is worth recalling that yesterday, during a Q&A session with the government in the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that according to reliable information, the author of the project of the 'Madrid Principles' was the Armenian side and that under these principles, Armenia recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan.
