Russian Citizen Arrested in Yerevan for Desertion Released
A Russian citizen arrested in Yerevan on charges of desertion has been released.
The wanted individual was freed from custody just hours after the arrest. Regarding the question of extraditing him to Russia, it can be discussed only upon receiving a request for extradition and if there are sufficient grounds under applicable international agreements, as reported in an interview with the Republic of Armenia's Office of the Prosecutor General by Auroranews.
Earlier, the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that on April 7, a Russian citizen accused of desertion was arrested in Yerevan.
“Thanks to the efforts of the main department of the criminal police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Marash division, on April 7, 23-year-old Yuri T., wanted by Moscow law enforcement for desertion, was discovered, arrested, and transferred to the Marash division,” the statement said. The Armenian police informed the Russian side and the Armenian Prosecutor's Office about the finding of the individual accused of desertion.
