If the process of my dismissal begins, it will be a political move. Taguhi Tovmasyan

On that day, the ruling Civil Contract faction had come planned and arranged to find any problem or deficiency and raise the issue of my dismissal. This was stated by the Chair of the National Assembly's Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs Committee, Taguhi Tovmasyan, in a conversation with journalists.

It is noteworthy that during the discussion on the selection of the candidate for the Human Rights Defender, Civil Contract's Hovik Aghazaryan mentioned that he intends to initiate the dismissal of Taguhi Tovmasyan.

Taguhi Tovmasyan commented: “I am happy; let them start that process. I have prepared a video that I will publish soon, showing how four deputies from the Civil Contract are accusing me of being unable to conduct the committee meeting before or during the session. Everyone was shouting at me, saying I couldn’t conduct it. But if you are all shouting, how can I silence one of you? There is no basis to start a dismissal; it will be a political move if they do so. I am the only one from the opposition holding the position of committee chair, and they have set it as a goal to get rid of me. We will see what happens.”

Taguhi Tovmasyan also added that the behavior of the members of the ruling party during that session indicates that the ruling faction, in speaking of human rights, means turning any meeting into a street brawl. “In this regard, I have a suggestion; perhaps it would be appropriate for Arthur Hovhannisyan to lead the Committee on Human Rights Protection because it would result in a similar arrangement, as he has an ideal grasp of street behavior,” she concluded.
