Artsakh Prime Minister Issues Statement

The Prime Minister of Artsakh, Gurgen Nersisyan, has issued a statement regarding the stabilization of retail product prices in the market, a process initiated through collaboration with Russian peacekeepers.

“Since December 12, 2022, Azerbaijan has blocked the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia, creating numerous challenges for the people living in Artsakh. Such situations have started to push individuals towards various measures aimed at addressing the problems they face, including illegal actions. The strong demand for such actions can also lead to accomplices and supporters,” he stated.

Recently, there had been a significant increase in retail food product prices in the market, caused by illegal activities carried out by a group of economic agents. To put an end to this unacceptable phenomenon, the government of the Republic of Artsakh and law enforcement agencies have carried out substantial work, in which Russian peacekeeping forces in Artsakh, including representatives from Russian law enforcement agencies, also joined.

“In this regard, our cooperation has already yielded considerable results, with steps being continuously developed to reveal possible corrupt transactions and eliminate the conditions that facilitate their implementation. I would like to particularly highlight the efforts of the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Artsakh and the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, which significantly contributed to the relative stabilization of the situation,” Nersisyan emphasized.

“These joint efforts will continue, lasting until all manifestations of this detrimental phenomenon are completely eradicated in our region.”
