VIDEO: How Women Who Fainted Are Being Transferred. Tovmasyan Sends Urgent Letters

The Chair of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs, independent member Taghuh Tovmasyan, has sent urgent letters to all international partners.

«Make a public assessment of Azerbaijan's latest crime, and exert mediation efforts to unblock the road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the entire world,» stated Tovmasyan. She alarmed that several months separated from their families, 27 Armenian civilians, including the elderly, children, and persons with disabilities, were en route from Goris to Stepanakert via an extreme ground route on April 4, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers, according to an agreement reached with the Russian side.

Despite the initial agreement, Azerbaijani governmental agents posing as “eco-activists” obstructed the transfer of civilians. Azerbaijanis even invaded one of the vehicles, resulting in the deterioration of the health of four civilians, three of whom fainted. Accompanied by Russian peacekeepers, they were transported to the Republican Medical Center in Stepanakert. The remaining 23 civilians returned to Goris.

The Chairwoman emphasized that the Azerbaijani authorities are openly pursuing a policy of ethnic cleansing, using all unacceptable and criminal means to exert emotional and psychological violence on the Armenian population of Artsakh. Their goal is to depopulate Artsakh by any means.

In light of the above, Tovmasyan has demanded urgent responses and targeted assessments of Azerbaijan's latest crime from all international partners through her urgent letters. Simultaneously, she has requested renewed mediation efforts towards the opening of the road connecting Artsakh to Armenia.

It is noted that yesterday, Russian peacekeepers attempted to transfer 27 citizens from Goris, Armenia to Artsakh; however, Azerbaijani “eco-activists” blocked the passage on the Goris-Stepanakert highway. Due to the intervention of the Azerbaijanis, the health condition of four of our citizens worsened.
