VIDEO: 'You Betrayed the Civil Contract', 'You Are the Traitors' - Tension Flairs Up During Session

During a meeting of the commission, a heated argument occurred between Civil Contract MP Artur Hovhannisyan, ombudsman candidate Edgar Ghazaryan, and commission chair Taguhi Tovmasyan when opposition candidate Ghazaryan was given the floor to speak. At the beginning of his speech, he referred to the authorities as a 'criminal regime'.

Tovmasyan presented Edgar Ghazaryan's biography, after which Civil Contract's Gevorg Papoyan inquired who wrote Ghazaryan's autobiography, adding that it sounded like a text from a narcissistic individual. Tovmasyan revealed that Edgar Ghazaryan wrote the text himself.

Following an inaudible remark from Ghazaryan, Civil Contract member Artur Hovhannisyan demanded that Tovmasyan ensure the orderly conduct of the session. It is noteworthy that the opposition 'I Have Honor' and 'Armenia' factions nominated former head of the Constitutional Court's staff Edgar Ghazaryan, while the ruling 'Civil Contract' party proposed the candidacy of Deputy Prosecutor General Anahit Manasyan.
