I Managed to Expel Government MPs from the Hall in 20 Minutes: Edgar Ghazaryan
During an extraordinary meeting of the National Assembly's Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, government MPs left the hall while Edgar Ghazaryan was speaking and announced that they would return for the voting session. 'I suggest we allow the speech to finish; we will wait outside and return for the voting time after the speech is over,' said Arthur Hovhannisyan.
After the ruling coalition MPs vacated the hall, Ghazaryan continued his speech. 'Dear compatriots, I succeeded in doing what our people dreamed of — expelling the entire ruling team from the National Assembly at once, in one package, and this happened in just 20 minutes. This is what it means to fight against a criminal gang that produces quality results in a short time; we have achieved success. They have been expelled from the meeting that was convened to discuss the question of their illegally nominated candidate for the human rights defender position; this is an achievement. This is how they must be expelled step by step, first from the committee's meeting hall, then from the meeting hall, and finally from public life,' said Edgar Ghazaryan.
It should be noted that the proceedings of the meeting were not smooth from the beginning, as they were frequently interrupted by government MPs, who demanded that Ghazaryan refrain from making comments about the ruling political force.
Recall that on April 4, the extraordinary meeting of the National Assembly's Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs was held to discuss the nomination of candidates for the human rights defender position. The ruling party's candidate is Deputy Prosecutor General Anahit Manasyan, while the opposition groups 'Armenia' and 'I Have Honor' nominated Edgar Ghazaryan.
