Travel from Artsakh to Armenia Only Allowed in Cases of Extreme Necessity, Says Artsakh State Minister
Recently, the State Minister of Artsakh, Gurgen Nersisyan, announced that travel from Artsakh to Armenia will only be permitted in cases of extreme necessity, with the approval of the Russian peacekeeping forces' cooperation center.
“After the road connecting Artsakh to Armenia was blocked by Azerbaijan, the residents of Artsakh have been deprived of the opportunity to travel to Armenia for various needs for an extended period. Considering the ongoing personal issues people face—such as the death of a relative in Armenia, funerals, serious illnesses of family members, surgeries, and so forth—and the rising tensions, recently Russian peacekeepers have started transporting citizens facing such difficulties from Artsakh to Armenia at regular intervals,” he stated.
To monitor this process and protect our citizens from potential Azerbaijani provocations in the blocked section of the road, travel from Artsakh to Armenia will now only be possible in cases of extreme necessity, obviously through Russian peacekeepers, and exclusively by applying in advance to the cooperation center of the Russian peacekeeping forces for permission.
Regarding individuals in need of medical assistance, their transfer to Armenia will be organized through the Armenian Red Cross Committee representation in Artsakh, following instructions from the Health Ministry of Artsakh.
At the same time, it is reported that news of the Russian peacekeepers evacuating residents of Artsakh or transferring a large number of Artsakh citizens to Armenia does not correspond to reality; these are merely manifestations of Azerbaijani information warfare.
It is noteworthy that yesterday, Russian peacekeepers attempted to transport 27 citizens from the city of Goris in Armenia to Artsakh, but Azerbaijani 'eco-activists' blocked the passage of vehicles in the blocked section of the Goris-Stepanakert highway. Due to the intervention of Azerbaijanis, the condition of four of our citizens on site deteriorated.
