My Eye Was Injured Due to Incident with Alen Simonian: Member of ARF Bureau

As a result of an incident with the Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonian, I suffered an injury to my eye region. This was stated in an interview with NEWS.am by ARF Bureau member Karen Mkrtchyan, who called Alen Simonian a "traitor" in Cascades.

"I was walking in Cascades, having gone for breakfast with my children. I noticed that security personnel started to arrive, cars were filling up, and I realized that it was Alen Simonian. I labeled him several times, meaning that he is a traitor. During this time, two police officers approached me, grabbed me by the arms, and Alen Simonian told me, 'the traitor is an idiot,' and spat in my face. I was thrown to the ground, and then taken to the police station," narrated the participant of the incident.

According to Karen Mkrtchyan, no citizen intervened in the incident. "Unfortunately, I didn't see any citizens who would show the same attitude at that moment. When the authorities see that their citizens accept injustices as a norm, they continue in this manner. It is disappointing that the Speaker of the National Assembly behaves like this towards citizens," he stated.

He emphasized that what was surprising was that it was not Alen Simonian who was taken to the police station, but himself. "We are dealing with lawlessness, and the law is being applied selectively. This is a fact that our country is rolling into an abyss. Democracy or legality, these are merely veils," he concluded.
