VIDEO: It was quite a severe blow - Vardanyan on the incident

The Chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, Vladimir Vardanyan, stated in a conversation with journalists: "I tried to tell Mr. Minasian and the other lawmakers, in essence, let’s return to the phase of substantive discussion and finish this. After that, in response to my legitimate demand to return to the discussion phase, Mr. Mher Sahakyan said, 'You can't raise your voice at us.' I replied, 'I am chairing the meeting and will continue to do so.' He said, 'You can't, you can't.' He approached me since we were already standing, and without doing anything, he attacked me and fled," Vardanyan recounted, detailing the incident he had with the opposition lawmaker.

He noted that the incident lasted about a minute. According to Vardanyan, he did not step towards the lawmaker and could not have done so. "Mr. Sahakyan himself stood up, approached me, and hit me without saying anything. Medical intervention took place; there is quite a significant cut, and two stitches were placed. It was quite a severe blow," he emphasized.
