Ukraine Rejects Lukashenko's Proposal for Ceasefire
Mikhail Podolyak, an advisor to the President of Ukraine, has rejected the idea of halting military operations in Ukraine "without the right for both sides to reposition and regroup their troops." This call was previously made by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
“Any ceasefire would imply the Russian Federation's right to remain in the occupied territories. This is absolutely unacceptable. Ukraine has the right to move troops and equipment across its territory as it sees fit,” commented Zelensky's aide regarding Lukashenko's proposal.
It is worth noting that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously stated that Russia does not abandon diplomatic resolution and peace talks for the conflict; however, Zelensky has prohibited any negotiations at the legislative level.
Washington has rejected China's plan to peacefully resolve the conflict, stating that if a ceasefire were to occur in Ukraine, Russia would violate the UN Charter.
Earlier, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, in a message to the people and parliament, proposed to cease military operations in Ukraine and declare a ceasefire, as reported by RIA Novosti. “We must stop now, before the escalation begins. I will take a risk by proposing to halt military operations... to declare a ceasefire without the repositioning of troops, the right for both sides to regroup, and the transfer of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment,” said the state leader. He emphasized that if the West attempts to use the ceasefire for its purposes, Russia is obligated to deploy the full capabilities of its military-industrial complex and army to prevent the escalation of the conflict.
