It Seems Like Abandonment: Azerbaijanis Have Captured 100 Hectares of Arable Land Near Tegh Village, Says Tegh Council Member

Azerbaijani armed forces are establishing posts in the lands of Tegh village, which are part of the territory of the Republic of Armenia. This was stated by Aram Hovsepyan, a member of the Tegh community council and former mayor of Aravus, in a conversation with News.am, discussing the advancements of Azerbaijani armed forces towards Tegh village.

“I knew about 60 hectares being captured, but it’s said that it’s more than that; they have advanced up to the border of Kornidzor, and it’s been mentioned that it could be about 100 hectares. These are the privatized arable lands of the villagers of Tegh that they have cultivated and sown,” he said.

According to Hovsepyan, there has been no resistance from the Armenian side during the Azerbaijani advancement. “It seems like abandonment; there has been absolutely no resistance. In 2020, when they advanced 68 hectares towards Aravus, I negotiated and persuaded them to retreat, they returned the land, and we lost another 68 hectares at that time from the Aravus village. But now, they are not even negotiating about retreating,” he added.

In the current situation, the council member stated that the only solution is to push back the adversary through armed means. “Let them arm us; we know how to take our lands back, we will push those dogs out of our territory. The villagers are in shock; they are unaware of what’s happening,” he concluded.

The head of the Tegh enlarged community, David Ghoulunts, refused to comment on the loss of approximately 100 hectares from Tegh village and urged reporters to contact the National Security Service for more information.
