The US is the Main Initiator of Anti-Russian Policy: Lavrov

The logic of the new concept of Russian foreign policy reflects revolutionary shifts in international affairs. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a consultation held in a video conference format with permanent members of the Russian Security Council.

“The logic of the document reflects the changing geopolitical realities. Essentially, these are revolutionary shifts in the external outline that have visibly accelerated with the commencement of the special military operation,” Lavrov said.

According to the Foreign Minister, the new concept of Russian foreign policy discusses serious structural changes in the global economy. “It outlines the main long-term trends in international development, including the crisis of economic globalization that was previously conducted under American rules. One of the factors is that the global economy is undergoing serious reconfiguration and transitioning to a new technological basis,” he said.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that in the new concept of Russian foreign policy, the US is directly named the main initiator of the anti-Russian line. Lavrov also noted that the new concept records an unprecedented level of international tension over the past decade.

The Foreign Minister announced that the new concept of foreign policy envisions the possibility of implementing symmetrical or asymmetrical measures in response to unfriendly actions against Russia. “The provisions of the concept imply that the anti-Russian actions of unfriendly states will be consistently and, if necessary, harshly suppressed,” the minister stated.

Furthermore, the new concept of Russian foreign policy presents the thesis of using armed forces to repel or prevent armed attacks on Russia and its allies.

It should be noted that on March 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to approve the new concept of foreign policy.
