Judges to be Elected in the National Assembly: Who are the Candidates?

The newspaper "Zhoghourd" reports that new projects have been submitted to the National Assembly of Armenia and may be discussed in the upcoming session. This session is also expected to include elections: judges will be elected in Parliament.

Specifically, the Supreme Judicial Council has nominated three candidates for the three vacant positions of judges in the Court of Cassation. For the vacant position in the anti-corruption court of the Court of Cassation responsible for investigating corruption crimes, the nominees are Armen Danielyan, Elizaveta Danielyan, and Arsen Nikoghosyan.

For the vacant position in the anti-corruption chamber of the Court of Cassation handling civil cases, the nominees are Karen Aghajanyan, Liza Grigoryan, and Karen Tumanyan. Meanwhile, for the vacant position in the civil chamber of the Court of Cassation, the nominees are Vahagn Torosyan, Lilit Khachatryan, and Ani Mikitaryan.

So, who are these candidates? Ani Mikitaryan is a member of the Supreme Judicial Council whose term ends next month. She is a candidate favored by the authorities. Judge Liza Grigoryan is the girlfriend of the ruling party MP Hriknaz Tigranyan, and it is possible that she is also a candidate favored by the ruling party. Armen Danielyan is one of the judges who imposes detention favored by the authorities and is another candidate favored by them.

Even though there will be elections in Parliament, it is already decided in advance within the ruling party who will be elected to which position. You have already become familiar with their favored candidates.
