Azerbaijani Authorities Must Provide an Explanation, Says Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman

The spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, has responded to the statement by Israel's Foreign Minister regarding the establishment of a united front against Iran with Azerbaijan, strongly condemning it, as reported by ISNA agency.

"This is yet another proof of the Zionist regime's malicious intentions to turn Azerbaijani territory into a threat to Iran's national security," Kanaani stated. He noted that the statements made by the foreign ministers of Israel and Azerbaijan indirectly confirm their anti-Iranian orientation in the context of a "new phase of strategic partnership" between their countries, demanding an explanation from Azerbaijani authorities.

Kanaani emphasized that the peoples of Iran and Azerbaijan share historical and religious bonds, adding, "Iran has always sought to thwart the efforts of malign actors to create division between the two neighboring countries, and it is expected that the Azerbaijani government will also avoid falling into the traps laid by the enemies of both nations. It is obvious that Iran cannot remain indifferent to a conspiracy directed against it from Azerbaijani territory."
