Samvel Babayan Takes Control of the Meat Business in Artsakh
The newspaper "Hraparak" writes:
"Samvel Babayan, the former Secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh, who moved to Artsakh about two months ago, is attempting to take control of the meat market. The blockaded Artsakh has faced challenges in all sectors, including imports. Until the blockade, the meat import business was managed by the brother of one of the heroes who lost his life in the 2020 war, winning government tenders.
Our sources indicate that after relocating to Artsakh, Babayan, utilizing his connections in Armenia, decided to personally engage in meat imports to Artsakh. There was even a confrontation with the former importer. Ultimately, to avoid a significant uproar, they reached a compromise where Babayan's family handles the import, while the former importer sells the products in Artsakh.
Interestingly, residents of Artsakh have recently been complaining about the quality of the meat, stating that the previous importer, being a meat processor, never brought in bad products, whereas now they are receiving low-quality meat in Artsakh. We attempted to obtain comments from S. Babayan or anyone in his circle, but our calls went unanswered.
Some in Artsakh are outraged by this situation, stating that even in these tight circumstances, Kamanduyushch is only thinking about making money, and they are blaming Arayik Harutyunyan for allowing this to happen."
