Investigative Committee on Brawl Involving Official at Club

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is investigating the circumstances of a brawl that took place at the 'Queen Music Hall' club on the night of March 29th. At 04:12 AM on March 29, 2023, a call was received by the police reporting that an individual, who is a public official, had been assaulted and sustained injuries.

At the scene, located on Baghramyan Avenue, initial actions and operational-investigative measures revealed that on the same day, around 02:30 AM, the individual who called the police had entered the club with two friends. After some time, security personnel approached their table and warned them about their disrespectful behavior towards a club staff member.

This conversation escalated into an argument and subsequently a brawl, which also involved two other club employees. As a result, the individual who called the police sustained injuries to his facial area and was taken to the hospital.

Regarding this incident, a criminal case has been initiated in the Investigative Division of the Arabkir Administrative District of Yerevan under the first part of Article 297, Section 2 of the RA Criminal Code. A site examination has been conducted, along with other urgent investigative actions, and the identities of all participants in the incident have been established.

A forensic medical examination has been appointed concerning the injuries sustained by the person. Five individuals participating in the incident have been arrested on the grounds of reasonable suspicion of committing a crime. Considering the extensive nature of the investigative actions, a special investigative group has been formed to ensure the completeness and comprehensiveness of the preliminary investigation.

Necessary measures are being taken to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident, individualize the actions of all participating individuals, and provide legal assessment of those actions. Previously, it was reported that a police officer had behaved rudely and improperly towards a female server at the club; details regarding the brawl will follow.
