Former Deputy Minister of Defense to Be Summoned for Interrogation
The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that the former Deputy Minister of Defense, Alik Mirzabekyan, will be summoned to court in connection with a criminal case involving former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan and other former officials from the Ministry of Defense.
It should be noted that Mirzabekyan was relieved of his duties as Deputy Minister of Defense and head of the Department of Material and Technical Supply by decree of Serzh Sargsyan in 2016. According to reports, he allegedly conducted procurement of arms and food supplies at prices higher than market rates for unknown reasons.
Yesterday, a court session was held at the Anti-Corruption Court regarding the case involving former Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan and former ministry officials. Witnesses were summoned to the court, one of whom was Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the 'Hayastan' faction and former Minister of Defense.
As is known, a criminal case has been initiated in the National Security Service’s investigative department concerning alleged abuses in the procurement of military supplies. Seven individuals have been charged in connection with the case, including former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Artak Davtyan, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff Stepan Galstyan, and businessman Davit Galstyan, known by the nickname 'Patron Davo' for his involvement in arms supply.
